Hepatitis B and C are both viral infections affecting the liver, but they are caused by different viruses. Hepatitis B spreads through blood, sexual contact, and mother-to-child transmission, and a vaccine is available. Hepatitis C spreads mainly through blood contact and has no vaccine but is curable with antiviral medication.
The Anti-HBs (Hepatitis B Surface Antibody) test measures protective antibodies against the Hepatitis B virus. A result above 10 mIU/mL indicates protective immunity, either from vaccination or previous infection recovery.
